Tweed Heads Gold Coast Region
Tweed Heads is located on the Tweed River Northern New South Wales on the border with Queensland. Coolangatta sits across the border making Tweed Heads and Coolangatta the “Twin Towns”. Strangely, at some times of the year you will find a 1 hour time difference between the 2 towns because Queensland does not recognize daylight savings time changes. Of course this makes for lots of fun at New Year’s Eve where you can celbrate the coming year twice.
The Gold Coast Airport (OOL) is located in Coolangatta – just 10 minutes from the City Lights Motel. Qantas, Jetstar, Virgin Blue and Tiger service the various domestic routes from Sydney, Canberra, Newcastle, Melbourne, Adelaide, Cairns and Townsville to the Gold Coast Airport at Coolangatta. There are also a variety of International Flight to Gold Coast Airport.
The sub-tropical climate, great beaches and relaxed lifestyle make Tweed Heads a natural holiday spot with a lot of differentiation to the high rise hustle and bustle of the Gold Coast. The Tweed Heads is the place to see some of Australia’s, and the world’s, top surfers in action with home grown surfing heroes and world champion surfers such as Mark Occhilupo, Joel Parkinson, Wayne ‘Rabbit’ Bartholomew, Mick Fanning, and Stephanie Gilmore.
